McNeil hosts ‘Meet the Mavs’ Community Pep Rally

Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 11.05.20 AM copyOn the Friday evening before the start of the new school year, McNeil High School held its third annual Meet the Mavs community pep rally.

The event began three years ago to promote school spirit. It showcases the school’s athletic teams, band, cheerleaders and dance team. Families enjoyed face painting, balloon artistry, purchased school spirit merchandise and visited booths hosted by local businesses. Chick-fil-A was the event sponsor.

“This school is such a special place,” McNeil Principal Courtney Acosta said. “Meet The Mavs showcases all the ways students at McNeil can get involved.”

McNeil Varsity Football Athlete Nick Richardson was named Bush’s Chicken Athlete of the Week and Social Studies Teacher Lindsey Phillips was named Most Spirited Teacher.

KVUE Sports Director and the host of Friday Football Fever, Mike Barnes, awarded Deirdre Brown Sonic’s Mom of the Week. Brown is the mother to Donovan Brown, a McNeil High School Freshman.
