#ConstitutionOnCampus at Kutztown University

The blog posts from Constitution Day are rolling in! Here’s one from Josh Rinker about how his group, Young Americans For Liberty at Kutztown University, celebrated Constitution Day.

On a beautiful September 17th, Constitution Day USA, Young Americans for Liberty at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania held a #ConstitutionOnCampus event. Already having the idea before attending this past summer’s Young Americans For Liberty national convention back in the end of July, our organization had its eyes set on being active for liberty on this day. The anticipation, along with great planning and patience, paid off greatly!image3-23

As a business management major, I applied my skills to the question of how to set up in the best location on campus for exposure and approval. Luckily for us, Kutztown is a state funded institution, so acquiring the space and telling about our event being held was a piece of cake (Amen!). The location I chose was in the center of campus at the main walkway between north and south campus for the highest traffic exposure for our event. North campus holds 90% of the classrooms while south holds all of the housing. Thankfully, the weather made things even better for us! Just above 80 degrees and straight sunshine, students’ moods set the tone for more interaction at our event.

We were accompanied in our efforts by a poster with our club info, a whiteboard (to remind everyone it’s Constitution Day), speakers for music to liven up the spot, and plenty of handouts and sign-up sheets. We eventually gained steam near the peak hours and had countless students write on our wall and even sign up for the organization, all thanks to the help of our dedicated members, working all corners of the space to explain what we stand for and what we’re celebrating.
