The Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted their budget for FY 2014-2015 today of $146,684,287.10 for the general fund.  The reason for the increase was largely due to possible 4% merit pay increase for county employees and new personnel.  The Commissioners Court also adopted the FY 2014-2015 budget for Road Bridge of $22,324,329.39.  The Road Bridge Fund budget also included a possible 4% merit raise for employees.  The Debt Service budget, which is repaying the debt associated with road, park and other capital improvements, was approved at $74,558,930.43.

The Commissioners Court approved a 4% increase in salary for justices of the peace, county clerk, tax assessor/collector, and district clerk.  The county attorney received a $10,000 salary increase.  A 3% salary increase was approved for the county judge, sheriff, treasurer, commissioners, and constables.  The Commissioners Court also approved funding the Peace Officer Tenure System salary plan which is a 2% salary increase.  Other increases to the budget include funding for 42 new positions.

One public hearing on the tax rate was held today, and a second public hearing will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom on the second floor of the historic County Courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, Georgetown.  The proposed tax rate is 48.9029 cents per $100 of valuation which is the current tax rate.  The total county tax rate is comprised of three tax rates.  The general fund tax rate was proposed at 28.1529 cents.  The road and bridge tax rate was proposed at 4.00 cents, and the debt service tax rate at 16.7500 cents per $100 of valuation.

Williamson County Auditor David Flores said that Williamson County will end the fiscal year with an estimated $71.4 million in general fund cash reserves.  The Commissioner Court will spend $5 million from cash ending on capital improvements.  These projects will be decided at a later Commissioners Court meeting.
