AUSTIN (KXAN) – A woman died after attempting to cross Interstate 35 on foot near St. David’s Medical Center.

Authorities said the southbound lanes of lower deck will be closed for several hours as they conduct their investigation.

The accident happened about 9:25 p.m. in the 3300 block of North I-35, between Dean Keaton and 38 1/2 streets.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
