Austin (KXAN) – A shooting outside of Mustang Ridge in Caldwell County sent police on a manhunt for hours Saturday.

Mustang Ridge Police said several shots were fired on Calder Road and Highway 21 Saturday afternoon. They searched for a suspect for at least four and a half hours before calling the search off around 9.30 pm.

According to police they responded to a structure fire on Calder Road around 7:00pm. While on the scene officers say they heard five to six gunshots fired. Neighbors in the area say it was a bald Hispanic male between 5’7″ to 5’8″ with blue jeans, a white tee shirt that fired the rounds and fled. 

Police believe the suspect may have started the fire and fled west bound towards Avis Road.

APD’s helicopter was deployed to look for the suspect, but they were unable to find him. Mustang Ridge Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and they will continue their search on Sunday.
