Retirees representing several states have spent a few months constructing the new First Assembly of God in Taylor for free. They are members of the U.S. Mission America Placement Service (MAPS), the ministry of Assemblies of God U.S. Missions that coordinates volunteers to assist church and ministry institutions with construction and evangelism projects.

“They are a collection of volunteers who go about the U.S. in their RVs and we live on the site that we’re building and work on it. We build churches, work on camp grounds, work on team challenge facilities (rehabilitation) and other Christian organizations that need help,” explained foreman Dennis Butte.
