Manor High student arrested for threats

MANOR, Texas (KXAN – A 19-year-old student at Manor High School is in the Travis County jail for allegedly threatening the assistant principal.

According to an arrest affidavit, on Monday, Juan Becerra, was told by the assistant principal to report to the behavior unit but Becerra refused to go and stated that he was going to go home instead.

The assistant principal then told Becerra he was suspended and that he needed to leave the campus.

Authorities said Becerra left campus without any problems but returned 15 minutes later and began to cause a disturbance in the school cafeteria.

School Resource Officers as well as the assistant principal were able to restrain him. While officers were putting handcuffs on Becerra, authorities said he started yelling at the principal and said, “You lucky I don’t have a gun I’ll come back and kill you.”

Manor ISD said they don’t the threats lightly.

“In light of recent events nationwide we’re reviewing everything that we’re doing to make sure we’re on top of everything and ensuring the safety of all of our students,” said Russell Wallace, Deputy Superintendent with Manor ISD.

Becerra was arrested for retaliation as well as criminal trespass. Bond has been set at $15,000.
