Crash kills Austin Harley group member

AUSTIN (KXAN) – An unidentified member of an Austin-based motorcycle group was killed and four others were injured Friday in wreck on U.S. 183 north of Cuero, a local Harley-Davidson dealer said.

According to Rex Davis, general manager of Cowboy Harley-Davison said that about 30 riders from the group were heading for their annual ride to Rockport when a vehicle pulled into a lane occupied by some of the riders. Davis said four motorcycles were involved the wreck.

One rider was killed and five others were injured and required hospitalization, Davis said. Officials from the area said they could not confirm any details. But Davis said crews from his store, which serves as headquarters for the Austin group, were heading to South Texas to help the riders.

The names of riders involved were immediately available.
