AUSTIN (KXAN) – Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man in Pace Bend Park on Saturday afternoon.

Police say the 40-year-old man was climbing rocks with his friends Saturday afternoon when he lost his footing and fell. The call came in around 2.15 p.m., and EMS pronounced him dead on the scene.

People frequently jump off cliffs into Lake Travis. This was not the case, said spokesman Roger Wade. A detective was on the scene late Saturday afternoon, investigating the incident.

Travis County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release more information on Monday.
