AUSTIN (KXAN) – Two passengers died when they flew out of a pickup truck that flipped late Sunday night in Southeast Austin. The crash happened in the 500 block of US 183, just north of SH 71.

Witnesses told police the Ford truck, driving northbound, tried to pass other cars, but lost control and rolled several times. Austin/Travis County EMS took the driver to a nearby hospital.  Police report he suffered critical injuries.

The two passengers who were ejected during the crash died immediately. Police are still investigating whether they were wearing seatbelts, and if alcohol was involved.
