Williamson County Attorney Duty announces bid for district attorney seat

GEORGETOWN — Williamson County Attorney Jana Duty filed Dec. 14 to run in the March 6 Republican primary election for the office of Williamson County District Attorney, a seat held by John Bradley.

“My pledge to the people of Williamson County is to bring honesty and integrity back to the D.A.’s office, to see that everyone is treated evenly and fairly under the law and to continue fighting to protect our families as I have done as County Attorney,” Duty said in the news release.

Duty has served as Williamson County Attorney since 2005, and she graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio and the St. Mary’s University School of Law.

Bradley was appointed to the office of District Attorney by Governor Rick Perry in December 2001 and then was elected in November 2002. He filed for re-election Nov. 28, according to documents from the Williamson County Republican Party.

Bill Fairbrother, chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party, said a three-judge federal panel out of San Antonio extended the filing deadline from Dec. 15 to Dec. 19.
