Gunman on 911: ‘I’m shooting people’

GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) — Police say further review of the 911 call from a suburban Dallas apartment where seven bodies were found Christmas morning reveals someone saying “Help … Help” and “I am shooting people.”

Grapevine police say those words couldn’t be heard by the dispatcher Sunday but were audible when investigators used a different software system Wednesday to listen to the tape.

Police initially thought no one spoke during the call, which prompted police and firefighters to go to the apartment.

Police believe the caller is the alleged gunman, Aziz Yazdanpanah, and that he made the call after shooting his estranged wife, teenage children and three other family members before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators say he was dressed in a Santa Claus costume and attacked his family after they opened presents.
