Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 02:18 PM
Shooting off fireworks is illegal in the city limits of Georgetown or within 5,000 feet of the city limits except with a special permit. The possession of fireworks within the city limits is also illegal.
Violations can cost up to $2,000, according to a city press release. People who use fireworks outside the city limits should keep them 1,000 feet away from all structures and dense vegetation, according to the press release.
To report the illegal use of fireworks within the city limits, call the Georgetown police at 930-3510.
