Build-A-Bear stuffed animals recalled

WASHINGTON (KXAN) – The Consumer Product Safety Commission last week issued a recall on a popular stuffed animal, one many children may have received for Christmas.

Build-A-Bear, Inc., is recalling 284,000 Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears because of a potential choking hazard.

The eyes of the teddy bears can loosen and fall out. The s tuffed animal is about 16 inches high with black plastic eyes. The bear’s fabric covering is printed with multi-colored heart shapes. The company states on its website that certain production runs of this style bear utilized substandard fabric, which can tear around the eyes.

So far, no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should return the product to any Build-a-Bear store to receive a coupon for any available stuffed animal.

The bears were made in China and sold in the U.S. and Canada from April through December.
