2 officers wounded in Granbury gunfire

GRANBURY, Texas (AP) – Two law enforcement officers have been shot in the North Texas city of Granbury while in the apparent pursuit of a suspect.

Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds says the officers were wounded late Friday morning. No information was immediately released on the fate of a suspect allegedly involved in the gunfire.

Names of the injured sheriff’s deputy and the Granbury police officer weren’t immediately available. Both were transported to hospitals.

A white van apparently involved in the violent exchange remained at the scene near the town square of Granbury, about 25 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Granbury police didn’t immediately provide details. Messages left with the mayor of Granbury and the city manager also weren’t immediately returned.

Granbury was the scene of a May 15 tornado that claimed six lives.
