Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) in cooperation with multiple rescue groups will host “Bark N Purr,” a major adoption event from 10:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on May 18th, 2013 at their shelter on 1855 S. E. Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX.
WCRAS receives over 7,700 animals a year and so relies heavily on community and rescue support to save the lives of the dogs and cats who enter the shelter. Cheryl Schneider, animal services director, commented, “Rescue groups save 17% of the animals who enter our open-intake shelter. We hope to increase this number, but right now, every little bit helps.” Rescues involved in the “Bark N Purr” event include: Pug Rescue, Don’t Bully Me, Texas Sweeties Dog Rescue, Greyhound Pets of America, Pink and Blue Canine Rescue, Rescuers United for Furry Friends (R.U.F.F.), A.D.O.P.T for Dogs, and Austin German Shepherd Rescue. Each rescue will be bringing dogs who are looking for their forever homes.
The event will also include a low-cost vaccination clinic from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and a Silent Auction to benefit the shelter’s medical fund. The items available at the clinic and a preview of the silent auction items can be found at wilcopets.org.
The public is welcome to bring their dogs (on non-retractable leashes), so that all members of the family can meet their new best friend.
