TX DA slayings get attention in Okla.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The recent shooting deaths of two prosecutors in Texas have district attorneys in Oklahoma on alert and thinking of ways to protect themselves and investigators.

District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife were found shot to death March 30th in their north Texas home — two months after a prosecutor in his office was gunned down in a parking lot near the courthouse.

Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn told The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/16FjRoz ) that one possibility is an assessment to determine how to best protect state prosecutors.

District Attorney James Boring  in the Oklahoma Panhandle says he’s added extra security to protect his investigators.

District Attorney Hollis Thorp in northwestern Oklahoma says the danger must be taken seriously — but adds that he doesn’t want to live in fear.
