The mayor of Manor helped police catch a bike thief, according to a press releases from the Manor Police Department.

Police were called about a theft in the 400 block of North Burnet Street in Manor on May 31, the press release said. When officers arrived people pointed out two suspects being chased on foot by two men including Mayor Jeff Turner, the release said.

The owner of a bike had seen the suspects steal the bike off his front porch, the release said. Turner caught up with one of the suspects who attempted to strike Turner, the release said.

Turner was able to hold the suspect until the police arrived, according to the police. Two officers caught the other suspect as he attempted to jump a ten-foot fence, the release said.

Both of the suspects were booked into the Travis County jail and charged with theft, the release said.
