Lent means just fish on Friday for some

AUSTIN (KXAN) – East Coast muscles and clams, Gulf oysters, Hawaiian tuna — Quality Seafood has it all. The restaurant and fresh seafood market was slammed on Friday because of Lent.

Feb. 24 is the first Friday of Lent –  the season in the Christian calendar leading up to Easter. During Lent, many Christians won’t eat any meat on Fridays, but only fish.

“This is our season,” said Carol Huntsberger. “We say that we are preparing all year for this time of year. And it is Lent. The season of Lent that the Catholics celebrate in the coming of Easter.”

Quality Seafood is located at 5621 Airport Blvd. in Central Austin.
