Birth Control Rules Halted by Judge Just Before Scheduled Start Today: Reason Roundup

Have you guys been following the problems of PGE?

Their equipment has been found to have started the last batch of fires, and between all the homes that burned and the people that died, their liabilities gonna be way past their ability to cover them. They’re filing for bankruptcy.

The question isn’t whether to rescue them but how. The state isn’t about to let its biggest supplier of electricity to California suddenly go dark. The obvious solution?

The State of California will take over Pacific Gas and Electric.

Not only would their debts then come from the taxpayers, but the state takeover solution would have the added benefit of facilitating the transition of the state’s power generation to renewable alternatives at taxpayer expense. It’s a win/win!

Now, some of you may be thinking that government takeovers of the means of production reeks of socialism and these experiments invariably lead to failure, with Venezuela being an excellent example. Well, I think we address those concerns right off the bat. You see, for one thing, Venezuela was corrupt. Oh, and another way in which Sacramento isn’t like Venezuela, Sacramento is run by a diverse coalition of environmentalists, African-Americans, Latinos, feminists, and gay rights activists, so obviously, central planning and state ownership of the means of production won’t have the same problems Venezuela did.

And if you don’t understand that, then you must be a stupid redneck.
