The Round Rock ISD community is invited to attend the annual Celebration of Families and Round Rock Empty Bowls Festival for a one-day event for the whole family, which will help raise funds for the Round Rock Area Serving Center.

The event will be hosted on April 8 at Cedar Ridge High School and incorporates the Empty Bowls Festival and a family resource fair where students and parents have the opportunity to learn about after-school activities, teaching and learning opportunities and college readiness.

Following Celebration of Families, participants and community members are invited to join the 7th annual Round Rock Empty Bowls Festival — a service learning project, which brings together students, faculty, community members and business partners in an effort to reduce hunger in Round Rock.

Empty Bowls Festival participants have the opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind ceramic bowl made by Round Rock ISD students for a suggested donation of 10 dollars, which also includes a soup lunch. Visitors are also treated to student entertainment throughout the day.

Last year, the festival raised $6,000 and has raised $53,095 to date with 100 percent of the proceeds going to feed the hungry in our community via the Round Rock Serving Center. The Serving Center has been operating a food pantry for 30 years and serves over 1,000 families every month.
