TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Search teams are working to recover the body of a missing swimmer in Lake Travis.

A 20-year-old man jumped from a boat near VIP Marina Sunday evening and didn’t resurface, according to officials with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. They said the water is about 100 feet deep in the area he went missing.

TCSO says the man is from Los Angeles and interns with a company from Dallas. He was reportedly at Lake Travis with friends from work when he jumped from the boat about 100 yards from shore.

Rescue swimmers and STARFlight tried to rescue the man for more than 20 minutes before switching their efforts to recovery mode.

The TCSO Dive Team responded to the scene Sunday night. They remained on-scene at last check and planned to deploy a robotic search tool to help find the man.
