AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Travis County Sheriff’s motorcycle deputy was hurt when a car pulled in front of him at the intersection of Wells Branch Parkway and Single Trace Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office tells KXAN the deputy was trying to catch up with a traffic violator when the car crossed in front of him. The deputy put his motorcycle into a slide to avoid the car and hit the curb, injuring the deputy and tearing up the motorcycle.

Deputies say the car’s driver stayed on the scene and called 911. There is no word yet if the driver will be cited for the crash.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries and is expected to be released.

Wells Branch Parkway was closed due to the accident and the subsequent investigation.
