Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is the Land of the Free Adoptions this weekend. WCRAS invites the public to their free adoption event this Memorial Day weekend from Saturday, May 25th – Monday, May 27th. All pets older than 6 months will be available for a free adoption.

Since many individuals have a three day weekend, it is a great time to adopt a new pet. Families have more time to get their new pet settled in and ready for their new life together. Cheryl Schneider, Williamson County Animal Services Director, chose to have free adoptions this weekend because, “while many have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy in this country, this weekend, it only takes love to free an animal from the shelter.”

In hopes of finding homes for all the animals of the shelter, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter will be open all Memorial Day Weekend from 11:00am – 5:00pm and Monday from 12:00pm – 6:00pm.  All pets older than 6 months will have free adoptions and all pets 6 months and younger will only be $75 to adopt.

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is a collaborative effort between Williamson County and the cities of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, and Hutto. It provides a safe environment for the lost, abandoned, and homeless animals of these jurisdictions. Our vision is to save every healthy and behaviorally sound companion animal and to place each animal in a loving home.  The shelter is located at 1855 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown.  The phone number is (512) 943-3322.  The shelter is open  Monday through Friday from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday from 11:00 – 5:00 p.m.
