Drunken driver gets 30 years in prison

BRYAN, Texas (AP) – A judge in Bryan has sentenced a 49-year-old College Station man to 30 years in prison following his fourth conviction for driving while intoxicated.

The Eagle newspaper of Bryan-College Station reports State District Judge J.D. Langley sentenced Michael McGruder Friday after prosecutors showed he had four previous prison terms to go with 19 criminal convictions on various charges.

The latest driving-while-intoxicated arrest came earlier this year.

He refused a sobriety test but because of his previous drunken driving convictions, authorities were able to obtain a blood sample. It showed him over the legal blood alcohol limit.
