Fire burns home near Anderson Mill

AUSTIN (KXAN) – All residents are safe after a one-alarm garage fire burned a home in Northwest Austin.

Austin firefighters responded to the call at 6:24 a.m. Thursday in the 10000 block of Mandeville Circle.

Responders found a working garage fire that spread to the attic of the one-story house.

Even though the fire was under control by about 7:30 a.m., crews were still on the scene through mid-morning as the fire burned through the roof.

Firefighters were forced to adopt “defensive mode” procedures due to hazardous conditions, an AFD spokesperson reported, but went back to fighting the fire from the interior of the house.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage was unknown.
