2 more Travis County West Nile deaths

AUSTIN (KXAN) – While the temperatures are cooling down, the threat of West Nile Virus still exists. 

On Tuesday, the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department said in the past several weeks two Travis County residents have died from the disease.

The two people who died were older than 50 years of age and both had underlying health conditions.

Both individuals fell ill in mid-September and the deaths occurred on Oct. 31 and Nov. 6.

Travis County had no reported cases of WNV since July .

Thus far this year Travis County has confirmed five human deaths attributed to WNV.

The last onset of human illness was reported on Oct. 10.
