Trouble at pawn store leads to chase

AUSTIN (KXAN) – An Austin man was arrested on Monday after authorities said he caused trouble at an EZ Pawn store and fled from cops.

According to the arrest affidavit, Byron Black,39, went into the EZ Pawn on Airport Boulevard and demanded $50 for a bicycle. When the store manager refused to pay, Black became very angry, the affidavit said.

A police officer responded to the disturbance call from the pawn store manager, but when she got there Black got into his car and drove away.

The officer said she followed the suspect and told Black to stop the car, but he refused and sped off into a nearby field.

Police said they were able to stop Black near Alf Avenue  and arrested him.

Black is charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle and his bond is set at $20,000.
