Baylen Linnekin on Organic Food and Anti-Social Behavior
Do organic consumers shop exclusively at the jerk
store? It sometimes seems that way, especially as self-described
foodies increasingly treat the act of grocery shopping as a
political statement. In his latest column, Baylen Linnekin of the
nonprofit Keep Food Legal reviews a new academic paper titled
“Wholesome Foods and Wholesome Morals?†which looks at whether
people exposed to organic food marketing are so self-satisfied that
they are less likely to express empathy toward others.
