Baylen Linnekin Interviews Farmer-Activist Joel Salatin

“We run the farm like a business instead of a
welfare recipient,” declares farmer, author, and entrepreneur Joel
Salatin, who eschews government subsidies and questions the wisdom
of most federal food regulations. A self-described
“Christian-conservative-libertarian-environmentalist-lunatic,”
Salatin isn’t afraid to speak his mind. “I’ve never taken drugs and
don’t intend to, but I absolutely defend the right of someone to
take them if they want. By the same token, I don’t eat McDonald’s
food, but I vehemently defend the right of people to eat it,” he
says. In a wide-ranging interview conducted by Baylen Linnekin,
executive director of the nonprofit Keep Food Legal, Salatin weighs
in on the future of food and freedom in America.
