AUSTIN (KXAN) – Two people seriously injured in a bizarre car crash early Sunday morning right outside Austin City Hall.

It caused a huge commotion just near the Occupy Austin demonstration shortly after 1:00 am.

Police say the driver was going northbound on South 1st Street but didn’t make the curve and drove his pick-up into a little grove of trees outside City Hall, crashing into one of the trees.

Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries but police have not released their names.

There’s no word if alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the crash.
