Hickory Street eatery makes comeback

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Hickory Street Restaurant is apparently making a comeback on Congress Avenue.

KXAN News reported in September that the bar and grill was closing after 28 years — all to make way for a 28-story tower that will include an office, boutique hotel and restaurants.

But since that new development will take a couple of years to begin, the Austin Business Journal reports the landlord is extending a flexible lease to the new owners of Hickory Street.

It should reopen in February, with a new chef and menu.
