GEORGETOWN — Original Old Coupland Inn and Dancehall owners Barbara and Tim Worthy plan to reopen the dance hall and restaurant in December.

The business, which had closed earlier this year, was opened in 1990 by the Worthys, who operated the business until 2003 before selling it to two other operators, Barbara Worthy said.

“The original owners are back,” Barbara said. “We were once known as the eatin’est, drinkin’est, dancin’est place in Texas.”

The dance hall’s soft opening will be Dec. 16 and 17 with shows from the Crop Dusters and Stars of Texas Band.

A grand reopening will be held New Year’s Eve with an early performance by Gene Watson followed by a late show with Granger Smith. Tickets for the evening cost $25 and include both shows, a champagne toast and a sit-down breakfast. Doors open at 5 p.m. for early diners, and the dance hall will open at 7 p.m. for a sit-down special dinner.

The dance hall will be open regularly on Fridays and Saturdays after the New Year and available throughout the week for private events.

The Worthys are in the middle of completing renovations to the dance hall, including refinishing the dance floors and renovating the stage with new carpet and lighting.

Other changes include a return to the restaurant’s original menu. The restaurant and bar will also move to a beer, wine and margarita-only selection, Worthy said.
