Not your traditional gingerbread house

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Where can you find the UT Tower, The Alamo, and Dallas’ Reunion Tower all in one location?

The answer is at the Four Season Hotel Austin , but everything is in miniature and edible form!

Since 2003, the hotel has constructed the Gingerbread Village ; this season features icons new and old across the Lone Star State.

In honor of the 175th anniversary of Texas independence, Executive Pastry Chef Javier Franco suggested the Texas theme.

“This anniversary year seemed like the perfect time to pay homage to both the past and present skylines of Texas,” said Franco.

The whole display is made with completely edible ingredients. Close to 200 pounds of gingerbread dough was used to construct the village.

Austin’s Frost Bank Tower is a city landmark and it’s no less of a show-stopper in gingerbread form.

The Four Seasons team started the framework for this season’s village back in May.

The Gingerbread Village will be on display through in the hotel lobby through Jan. 2, 2012.

After the holiday season comes to an end they won’t be gobbled up – the houses are also available for purchase with proceeds donated to the Seton Shivers Cancer Center.
