County offers free tree recycling after Christmas

Friday, December 16, 2011, 01:59 PM

The Williamson County Landfill will be offering free Christmas tree recycling for Williamson County residents starting the day after Christmas.

Residents can bring trees, which will be turned into mulch, through Jan. 7.

Lights, tree stands, garland, tinsel and decorations should be removed before bringing the tree to the landfill. Flocked trees are not accepted.

When you take your tree, be sure to bring along a few canned goods or non-perishable items, as the Williamson County Landfill Recycling Center is also accepting items for the Hutto Food Pantry, located at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hutto. The food pantry will accept canned goods, paper goods and toiletries.

The Williamson County Landfill and Recycling Center is located on Highway 1660 between Hutto and Georgetown. It’s open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. For more information about the Williamson County Landfill, call 512.759.8881. For more information about the Williamson County Landfill Recycling Center, call 512.846.2756.
