— It still doesn’t feel much like it weather-wise, but it’ll soon be looking a lot like Christmas in Williamson County. Events to celebrate the season begin the day after Thanksgiving.

The Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main St. in Georgetown, will be lighted during an annual event Friday. The event will be held on the courthouse’s east steps and run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The county promises more lights and a bigger event than it has had before. The lights will go at dusk on each night through New Year’s Eve.

After the lighting ceremony, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Williamson County Brown Santa will offer pictures with Santa inside the courthouse and will be collecting toys for its annual toy drive. The sheriff’s office program provides assistance to families living outside any town or city within Williamson County that does not provide a similar program.

Brown Santa will also offer pictures with Santa on Saturday at the Wolf Ranch Town Center at Interstate 35 and Texas 29. Santa will ride into Wolf Ranch and light the Christmas tree at 6 p.m., then be available for photos until 8 p.m. Santa will be around for photos at the shopping center on weekends until Dec. 18.

On Dec. 1, County Commissioner Lisa Birkman will host a Christmas open house at her office at the Williamson County J.B. and Hallie Jester Annex, 1801 E. Old Settlers Blvd. in Round Rock. The open house runs from 4 to 6 p.m. with light refreshments, and toy donations will be accepted for Brown Santa.

On Dec. 2, Constable Robert Chody will close his office to hold a Brown Santa toy drive. The Walgreens at Avery Ranch and Parmer Lane will be collecting toys and cash donations.
