Williamson County Judges sued for violating the US Constitution

Suit Filed Against Williamson County

A Central Texas county known for tough stand on crime is coming under criticism. A new lawsuit alleges Williamson County and some of its judges deny defendants the right to counsel.

This lawsuit deals with misdemeanor cases that go through some of the courts. It alleges that sometimes defendants give up their cases to prosecutors.

This new lawsuit clams that defendants who come through the courts on misdemeanor cases are sometimes not given proper information about the court system.

"They're getting pressured every moment. 'Speak to a prosecutor. They're on your side,'" Dominic Gonzales with the Fair Defense Project said.

Security Tools

In this day in age of Presidential directed snooping privacy concerns are at the forefront again. Here well be a collection of tools that you can use to try to keep your 4th Amendment Rights a little longer.

Web Browsing
The first thing any freedom oriented person should realize is that your activities are ALWAYS traceable by default. But there are things that one can do. Tor and Privoxy are usable together. Your browser will first send the request to Privoxy, it will then be handed to TOR, which will then be routed around to get to final server. The requested data will follow the same procedure, but in reverse.

A Croatian journalist charged by the UN war crimes tribunal with contempt of court has defied it by publishing the secret testimony of a protected witness on the Internet, reports and police said Thursday.

Domagoj Margetic put out on his personal website what appeared to be testimony by Croatian President Stipe Mesic during the 1997 trial of former Bosnian Croat general Tihomir Blaskic, the Jutarnji List newspaper said.

Hook'em Horns!

The clock is tickin' and the UT longhorns will be playing in the Rosebowl for the national title. The years of coaching the Longhorns is paying off for Mack Brown. let's see if they can take it all the way!

Now I just cannot take watching football, just something about watching sports and not playing them is just boring. Somehow I just cannot get enough of college football... Maybe it is the false pretense that they do it for the love of the game and not the money.

ok, I have no idea where I am going with this. I have more coffee to drink

Forum Fixes

*Update*
Ok, trying to move all the old posts from the Yahoo site to this one is just plain nuts. Way to much work when the party has more pressing needs. I'm chalking the forum migration as a back burner issue.

Folks,

I've started the process of moving the archives from the the WCLP yahoo group and WCLP news Yahoo group.

During that process I noticed the members could fill out a forum posting but it would not publish to the forums (or anywhere else for that matter). That problem has been fixed!

I also discovered that people that try to reply to a post, cannot, unless it goes through an approval process. I removed that process and you can now post a reply to any topic that allows reply comments.

GeorgeTown taxes?

To start with, I have a few family members that live in Georgetown. They claim that the Georgetown city council is trying to raise the tax rate to force out the low income residents in hopes of bringing high income residents in. I also hear they are E.D.'ing the property along the river front with dreams to build a river walk.

Has anyone else heard of this?
